Glitter Pumpkins

I am kind of an arts and crafts addict... I spend way too much time at craft stores and trying to make my own decorations, jewelry, etc.  With Thanksgiving quickly approaching and a few leftover little pumpkins from Halloween I thought it would be a good time to try my hand at glitter pumpkins to use for our table centerpiece on Turkey Day!  My first one didn't work out so well (note to self - paint pumpkins a day ahead and use Modge Podge NOT glue!) However, I ended up happy with the final product!

Glitter Pumpkins
Tools: Sponge brushes, small pumpkins (let's not get too ahead of ourselves here - speaking for myself only ;) ), craft glue, Modge Podge (not pictured), Martha Stewart glitter in bronze, acrylic paint in bronze (not pictured)

First attempt: coated with glue first.  I applied it using the sponge brush.  This had to be done VERY quickly before the glue got too tacky for the glitter to stick.

Step 2:  Sprinkle glitter all over.  End result: not so great.

Second attempt: Paint pumpkins with acrylic paint (I chose bronze) including stem, using sponge brush.

Let dry overnight.  I then coated them with Modge Podge using the sponge brush.

Finally, I dumped the glitter on (instead of sprinkling) and spread it out using a different sponge brush.  This tactic seemed to work much better.

Finished product! I love them!  Have you made these before? Any tips or advice?
