Our House: The Kitchen

When we moved into our house nine months ago, we knew we had a lot of work to do to make it our own.  The house was painted mostly neutral colors and in great shape, but certain rooms, like the kitchen were dated and were drenched in wall paper.  1990's wall paper.  The kitchen is the first room we started on, the day after we settled!  Josh, his best friend and my dad worked ridiculously hard to remove all of the wall paper (and, EW, the water was black from the previous owner's nasty cigarette habit!) and paint it a pale blue/grey.  Here are the before pics to give you an idea:

We got an inexpensive little table (since we will have a formal dining room one day), got new granite counters, appliances, and sink.  We also made a hanging pot holder and added some fun decor.

I love these chalkboard labels! Found them at Staples!

This chest is great for extra storage (bibs, dishes, etc.)

Who doesn't love roosters in a kitchen?

There is definitely a theme of red accessories throughout.

I made this spice rack with a hanging Ikea rack and wedding favor bottles from Michaels.

It is still a little bit of a work in progress... we need to redo the floors and get new lights, but I definitely love it now!
