How is your holiday shopping going? I have managed to put a big dent in mine, but I never stop looking for great gift ideas! So this year, I am going to be posting all of my favorite gifts to give/receive . Today, it is all about BEAUTY!
I know I am a few days late, but I thought a little Thanksgiving recap was in order. This was our first one in our house and with Greyson. I cooked and my parents came up, so we had a fairly small, easy holiday.
I started on Wednesday and made a pumpkin cheesecake, which I do every year.
I also made cranberry sauce - a recipe my bestie shared with me a few years ago.
We were up bright and early Thursday, fueling up.
This guy was JAZZED that it was a food-based holiday.
I finally got to wear this Forever 21 blouse I got... before I was pregnant with Greyson.
I figured it was as good of a holiday as any to use pink napkins!
I tried a cracker recipe from Ina G. It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I think I want to try my hand at crackers again.
Someone was SO hungry she started nibbling on her brother...
There was a kids table for one... and some extra guest.
...and dessert! I also made a pumpkin something or other from Ina and it was ridic tasty. I believe in anything involving mascarpone cheese.
Oh Pinterest, how you have taken over my life... This DIY project is quite possibly the easiest one in the world, and of course, another one taken from Pinterest. Holidays often call for wine (or beer, or cocktails. Pick your poison.) And often wine glasses get mixed up as to which glass belongs to which person. Enter this easy fix!
Take your wine glasses outside. Spray on one thin coat. Let dry for an hour or so then re-spray.
Give them four hours or so to dry.
And the finished product! So easy to do! They're handy and fun!
Let's take a break from our usual for those lovely Cullen's and all their homies, wolf and vampy. I am such a Twi-hard book style but the movies, ehhh, they just don't do it. Not that I won't jump at the chance to watch one just because. I also am Team Edward and anti-KStew. However, girl friend pulled it out for the win at the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere the other night. I don't think I have seen pictures from a single non-awards show event that have had so many amazing dresses.
I mean, really!? How fierce are they all? It is hard to pick a favorite, but I think Kristen Stewart nailed it. What about you? Team Edward or Team Jacob?! Team pretty dresses?
It's recipe time! This is a mix of things I found on Pinterest and tweaked to my taste preferences. I am a big granola fan but hate all the added sugar and fat in most store-bought kinds. This is a little less processed and sugar and fat filled.
- 4 cups multi grain oats (NOT quick cooking)
- 1 cup crushed almonds
- 1/4 cup Canola or vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sugar free syrup
- 2 teaspoons Splenda
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 400. Mix the oats, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl.
Crush your almonds (or buy them sliced.) I used a mortar and pestle to crush mine. It only added a couple of extra minutes to the recipe. Mx them into the bowl with your other ingredients.
Add in the syrup and oil and mix together until well combined. Spread on baking sheet in a thin layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes until dark, tossing once.
