The Outtakes

I have been spending a lot of (snow day) time lately going through my entire iPhoto library, which is an aggressive task.  It is literally going to take me all of 2014 to complete this project.  Why in the world did I hang onto so many fuzzy/blurry/gross photos?  (My OCD is flaring up as I type this.)  However, in scrolling through years of photos I have found so many outtakes aka photos that should have been deleted but weren't.  These are the real gems that were discarded for the prettier, more posed, smiling shots.  Yet, there is something much more realistic about an outtake - kids blurry from nonstop movement, me glaring grumpily at someone for no reason, or just pure awkward hilariousness.  The outtakes are the reality.  Don't get me wrong, I live for a great photo (um, hello, Instagram!) but these babies are what life would look like if reality-only pictures were required.

True life is blurry and beautiful and almost always taken at a bad angle, but I will still hold onto these snaps.  I know they aren't pretty or fun or even coherent, but I love them because they remind me so much of the little moments in my life and hold a special spot in my heart because deep down I am a memory hoarder.

Stay warm!
xo

  4. Love this!! I just got a new phone and before, I was trying to clean out my pictures and it was MADNESS. So many to sort through! Now with my new phone I'm being really deliberate about what pictures I keep and what I delete!

    1. I was on a good streak with that but definitely got off track. It definitely makes life easier keeping all the pics organized!!
