A Day in the Life...

I have seen these posts on a lot of blogs and since I am a naturally nosy person, I always love them.  I don't think my life is very interesting, but the idea of documenting it for a day and putting it down on (virtual) paper means I can look back on it next year or in a few years, when I know our lives will all be very different (boo kindergarden!)

6:45 - 7:00 am  Wake up!  I almost always get up first.  Sometimes Greyson is up and comes up to wake me up.  I spend a solid fifteen minutes trying to get Avery out of bed, usually with Greyson yelling in her face to no success.  Nine times out of ten I have to carry her downstairs, still mostly asleep.

7:00 - 8:45 am Take the dog out, feed the pets breakfast, get the kids breakfast, get myself breakfast, unload the dishwasher and do dishes, publish my blog, try to squeeze in some work, pack snacks and lunches, get the three of us changed, teeth brushed, and out the door.

9:00 am Waiting to leave the house while Avery freaks out and has to change her clothes. Again.

9:10 am Finally leave and head for the gym!

9:30 - 10:45 am Work out!  This includes getting the kids picked up and dropped off in the child care area and getting my stuff in and out of the locker room, all of which takes a surprisingly long amount of time.

11:00 am  We eat lunch either at the gym or stop somewhere.  The kids eat, and I either have a snack or get a coffee.

11:45 am Drop Avery off at school.  We get there a little early so the kids can run around outside and play with their friends.

12:00 - 2:45 pm  Avery is in school.  Greyson and I come home, let the dog out, do more dishes, and then I either vacuum or clean a room.  At 1 I try to put Greyson down for a nap (which he very rarely will do.)  I take a super fast shower and get ready and dressed.  Then I make myself lunch and sit and do some work, fold laundry and work on the blog.

3:00 pm We pick Avery up from school and the kids play outside anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour!

4:00 pm We run a couple of errands.  Some days we have playdates, but today we need to hit Target for a birthday gift, some groceries, and pet food.  Of course we end up with a few things we clearly don't need in the cart (a toy car and a toddler maxi dress) but that's pretty much the norm.

5:30 pm We are home finally!  I unpack the car, let the dog out, and feed the pets.  The kids are playing upstairs in the playroom and I start making dinner (Cilantro Lime Shrimp) and running upstairs to keep the kids from fighting.

6:00 pm Get the kids into the tub and washed.  I let them play for a little bit while I clean the rest of the bathroom.  They get out and into their pj's then head downstairs for dinner.

6:15 pm Josh is home (not always this early) and we sit down to dinner.  The kids won't eat what I made so I have to give them something else while we eat.  After we clean up and I clean the kitchen (I'm obsessive about having a clean kitchen.)

7:00 pm The kids play with Josh and I do some more work.

8:00 pm Greyson goes to bed.  Josh takes him up but when I go to say goodnight he starts screaming for me so I end up reading him a story and putting him to sleep.  He loves to make me lay on the pillow next to him and he gives me lots of hugs and kisses.  I. Love. It. So. Much.  Then he falls asleep, covered in costume jewelry.

8:15 pm I go get ready for bed and Josh puts Avery to bed.

8:45 pm Josh and I get to sit down on the couch and watch grown up tv (The Bachelorette and New Girl tonight!) They may or may not be some wine sipped... I work on my blog and read other blogs at the same time because I can never sit still.  I have problems.

11:00 pm We head up to bed.  I read for a little bit (Allegiant because I am a teenage girl at heart) then it's lights out!

And that is my day.  I really don't know where time goes or how it goes so fast and I constantly feel like I am poorly managing my time.  Maybe if Starbucks delivered things would be easier?   Hope everyone has a great day!

I think my son was only 12 weeks old when I did my first one and now he's about to turn one year old!! It's amazing how crazy busy a day is one you write it all down. I only have one child and I truly can't even imagine what it's like with more!!

  3. These are my favorite posts to read! I suck at managing my time on my days off, too! The hours just get away from me and by the time my husband gets home, I have no idea what I did all day.. and it's just me, no kids or pets!
