Five on Friday

Happy Friday!  I am SO happy the weekend is here - despite the forecast saying MORE snow.  I mean, will it EVER end?  (I'm totally saying this all in a Chandler Bing voice.)  Today I am linking up with AprilChristinaNatasha, and Darci for Five on Friday!

1.  Have you guys seen this post about this darling little girl and her mom who make the most amazing dresses out of paper and tape? It is so sweet and definitely worth a scroll through! I didn't show this to Avery for fear she will suddenly expect me to do this and we all know she would not be walking around in something that cute.

2.  Leather
Yes, that is just leather.  I have been on such a (faux) leather kick lately.  I am dying for a fab faux leather spring jacket.  And a fabulous faux leather dress.  And shirt.  And more pants.  I loved Katie Holme's leather topped dress below.

3.  This Loft sweater I picked up over the weekend.  The star print just makes me happy and it is versatile enough to match a ton in my closet.  Happy dance!

4.  I'm becoming slightly obsessed with the Advocare Coffeecino in lieu of my morning Spark and to get that coffee fix.  It is so delicious and keeps me going!  Quitting my coffee addiction one sip at a time!

5.  The Stella and Dot Rory Necklace  is getting me so ready for Spring.  Turquoise is my warm weather favorite when it comes to jewelry and this baby gets the job done.  She may or may not on her way to me right now.  If only Spring was too!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Shopaholic

Happy Thursday lovelies! Let's get shopping!

These pumps are everything.  They are the perfect height, not a crazy price, and a D'Orsay cut is so flattering on.  I think I need them in ever color.

How fun is this top? You could wear it with jeans or leggings on a super casual day or throw it over gym clothes on your way to and from a workout.  I love how fun and versatile it is.

I got the maxi version of this dress last year and love it! You can dress it up or down and it is super flattering on.  I love the short version too!

I have absolutely no where to wear this dress, but I definitely feel like I could find an excuse to! Plus, it's on sale!

I'm digging eyelet big time right now and this is the perfect shirt!  I love the navy (not too sheer) and the size of the eyelets.

I have been eyeing this dress for a while and I think it would be perfect for our vacation inacoupleofmonths.  One shoulder doesn't look great on me, but I'm hoping the ruffles could help with that.  Plus, any swing dress is a definitely yes to me!

How cute is this?  JCrew has been killing it lately!  This would be a great transition piece for the end of winter into spring.

These earrings would match pretty much everything and be the only accessory you need.  I love all things Kendra Scott, too!

I desperately (not really but yet) need a new pair of leopard flats and these are not too pricey and super cute!

Happy shopping!

What's In The Bag

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for another What's In the Bag featuring the adorable Katie Elizabeth!  You have to check out her blog - it is full of delicious recipes, beauty product recommendations and fun life bits!  Thank you so much for stopping by today Katie!

Hi everyone!  I'm Katie from Katie Elizabeth - I know, real original, huh?  :)  I blog about a variety of topics including my life as a newlywed in Chicago, my favorite recipes and my love for any and all beauty products!  I'm so excited to be posting here on Pink and Fabulous today as this is my FIRST ever guest post!  A big thank you to Lindsay for having me!

I'm a girly girl to the core so it's kind of strange that I never really got into purses.  Don't get me wrong - I appreciate a beautiful bag and would give anything to have a pretty little LV on my arm, but I've never been one to spend a lot on purses or to switch them up everyday.  I'd say the majority of my bags are from Macy's or Target (Steve Madden being my favorite!) and I switch my bags up every other season - so I have a fall/winter bag and a spring/summer bag (that's the lazy girl in me!).

I've been carrying this Target bag since early October and it has held up surprisingly well.  I fell in love with the cognac color and the structure of the bag but most of all, the $40 price tag!

I'm a pretty organized person so you won't find many "extra's" in my purse - just the necessities.  I also make sure it's cleaned up (receipts in my wallet, any trash taken out, etc) everyday.  Nothing drives me more crazy than not being able to just reach in my bag and pull out what I need!

+ If I only switch out my purse twice a year, you can probably guess how often I switch out my wallet - pretty much NEVER!  I keep them until they are falling apart and then I get a new one.  This blue/green wallet is from Urban Outfitters and is actually super special to me because I bought it on the day I got engaged!

+ This little H&M holder is home to my Chicago Card - basically a debit card that I swipe when I'm hopping on any of the cities public transportation options.  If I ever don't want to carry my purse, I'll also throw my ID and cash in the holder and then make my husband put it in his pocket!

+ I always have a pair of sunglasses in my purse - but I make sure they are cheap sunglasses since they are likely to get pretty banged up in there.  These aviators were only $8 at Marshall's!

+ My planner is my LIFELINE.  I would be lost without it!  This year I'm using an Erin Condren life planner and am enjoying it!  It's pretty big but I still manage to stuff it in my purse everyday.

+ These are all the lip products floating around in my purse, it's so bad!  And let's not even get into the amount that I have in my makeup drawer at home!  I absolutely can't leave home without my Carmex - I've been known to stop at a Walgreens and pick up a new one if I do happen to forget it.  My two other favorites are the Buxom gloss and MAC lipstick!

+ The little pink and red bag holds all of my on the go beauty necessities - Caudalie beauty elixir (for my super dry skin!), Vanilla Bean Noel (best scent ever) hand lotion, Tylenol, Visine, hand sanitizer, a hair tie, Benefit's They're Real mascara (obsessed) and a cheapie lip liner.

Not pictured is my iPhone because I was using it to take pictures.  I feel like a "what's in your bag" post can tell you a lot about a person and in my case, it definitely sums me up!  An organized, makeup obsessed, city girl!  Thanks again for having me Lindsay!

Recipe: Clean Eating Banana Bread

I stumbled upon this clean banana bread recipe a few weeks ago on Pinterest and finally made it last week.  Then again yesterday.  It is clean and it is tasty.  If you slice it into about ten pieces each serving is about 190 calories.  It is easy to make and even easier to eat.  Adding chocolate chips (I use the Enjoy Life dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free ones) is key! The recipe below includes some of my tweaks (switching coconut nectar for agave nectar, etc.)

recipe adapted via

Ingredients
4 mushy bananas
4 tablespoons coconut oil, softened
2 eggs
1/3 cup agave nectar
1 cup buckwheat flour
1 cup almond meal
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions
-  Preheat oven to 350
-  Mix wet ingredients (bananas, coconut oil, eggs, agave) together in a bowl, use a whisk     and/or a potato masher
-  Mix dry ingredients together in a separate bowl (flour, etc.)
-  Pour dry ingredients and chocolate chips into wet ingredients and mix thoroughly.
-  Pour mixture into greased (with coconut oil or cooking spray) small loaf pan
-  Bake for 40-45 minutes
-  Let cool before removing from pan
-  Eat and enjoy!

Meal Plan Monday

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  I'm taking a page from my girl Hey Lauren Rene and doing a Meal Plan Monday post this week.  Meal planning was one of my New Years' Resolutions this year for many reasons.  Meal planning helps keep grocery costs down, helps dinner time prep go faster, requires less grocery store trips, and keeps us all healthier.   I am on a few weeks into it and have definitely not been 100 percent on it so any and all tips are welcome!  I do, however, put together a five day meal plan for each week with a feed yourself night and a day to go out for dinner (days six and seven.)  I have been turning to Pinterest as my main cookbook, including all of my meals for this week.  Seriously, what did I do before Pinterest?!

Monday
Spinach Zucchini Ravioli

Tuesday
Quinoa Turkey Chili

Wednesday
Mung Bean noodle pasta with fresh tomatoes (my own recipe)

Thursday
Spicy Shrimp (my own recipe)

Friday
Quinoa and Roasted Vegetable Salad

Please share your favorite healthy recipes and meal planning tricks!  Happy eating!

What's Been Going On

Happy Friday everyone!  Things have been so busy lately and I have no idea why.  I have been like a mad woman in need of seriously more hours daily.  We have had some fabulous dinner dates (with kids and without), saw Sesame Street Live, rode trains into the city, sipped delicious (and necessary) beverages, spa'ed, got some love notes from my favorite little girl, snoozed, worked on the kids' rooms, spent endless hours watching the snow plows, took our first trip to Chuck E Cheese and done a lot of arts and crafts!

The days are zipping by, which mean Spring will be here soon! I just am trying to enjoy all of this cozy time together and trying to get everything done before we can spend our days outdoors.  I plan my year out way too much!  Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

My Formula X Obsession

Ok, today is all about my newest, cannot live without, completely obsessed/addicted/hung up on/all other catchphrases like that to beauty product.  Have you guys heard about Formula X nail polish?  I posted about it before, but today I am just going on and on and on about it.  Let me preface this with a normal manicure lasts me three days on average before chipping beyond all hope takes over and all the polish has to come off (thanks OCD.)  When I do my own nails it is usually two days tops before everything has to come off.  I have been average five to six days with no major chipping with Formula X.  This is a total game changer for me!  (insert singing voices here!)

I bought the whole shebang kit at Sephora, but I have heard that it works just as well using only the polish and your own base and top coat.  The kit includes a nail cleanser, base coat and top coat.  The polishes range form $10-$14 at Sephora (where I have been getting mine) and go on amazingly.  The worst part for me, when I paint my own nails, is getting even coverage with the polish.  No matter how poorly I paint my nails with this, the finish is even.  It is amazing!  And it dries super fast which makes it great for painting Avery's nails or doing mine during Greyson's nap time!

These were taken after five days and the color is Potent.

These were also taken after five days and the color is Hercules.

So the moral of this story is go get some of this polish stat!

xo

p.s.  I was not compensated for this review in any way.  I really just like the polish that much and think it is too great not to share!

What's In The Bag

Hello lovelies!  I am so excited to have Natalie from East Coast Chic here to share her "What's In The Bag" post!  You have to check out her blog - it is one of my daily reads!

Hi Pink and Fabulous readers!  I'm Natalie from East Coast Chic.  I'm an east coast girl who blogs about anything from my new baby boy to house renovations to my favorite shopping finds.   I can't thank Lindsay enough for having me over to her blog today to share what's in my bag!

I love handbags and I'm always changing mine.  Yes even with a baby in toe I still switch my bag up every 1-2 weeks.  If I don't I just end up getting bored!  Right now I'm carrying my favorite Louis Vuitton Neverful MM.  I received this as a 30th birthday gift and 2 years later it's still one of my favorites that I use at least once every month.

Here is my bag and lucky for you all I just switched bags so you don't get to see my normal pile of receipts and trash :)

 1. Change of clothes for my 7 month old son- I learned early on that babies are messy so I always keep an extra pair of clothes for the unexpected

2. Kate Spade wallet- I've been using Kate Spade wallets for years now and I don't think I'll ever switch.  I have this pink one and a black one that I rotate between.

3. Check book- yes it's old school but I still carry my checkbook with me everywhere.  You never know when you might need to write a check.

4. Bed Bath and Beyond coupons- I always keep these with me since they never expire and who doesn't love to save money. It also helps that the BB&B is right next to my Target so if I can't find it at Target I try BB&B.

5. Cosmetic case- holds the usual- lip gloss, lotion, hair ties, mirror etc.

6. Baby Toys- must have these on hand to entertain the little guy.  You never know when a melt down is coming.

7. Diapers and wipes- these are a given with a baby.

8. Tide pen, Hand sanitizer, and Static Guard- Tide pen for stains.  Hand sanitizer because I'm crazy and use it constantly.  Static Guard because I have out of control static in the winter.

9. Icebreakers mints and duo mints- regular mints for fresh breath and duo mints to help with my sugar cravings so I don't buy a candy bar when I'm in the checkout aisle at Target

Not pictured are my iphone and sunglasses.  I was taking pics with the iphone and my sunglasses I've been keeping in my car lately so I don't forget them.   I have to admit I tend to be a hoarder when it comes to crap in my handbag and I can let it get totally out of control.  Since having a baby I've been trying to keep my bag as neat and light as possible so I can find things quickly and not spend time digging through a black hole.  I haven't quite acheived that yet but I'm getting there.

Thanks so much for having me Lindsay!

Thanks for sharing Natalie! And don't forget to check out East Coast Chic!

Closet Confessions

I have been finally getting out of workout clothes all day rut - not everyday because that would just be wrong - but enough I finally feel like I'm getting some pep back in my step in this weather.  Getting dressed in frigid temps when the ground is covered in feet of snow and ice is definitely trickier than I remember in my Syracuse days.

We did manage a night out with friends on Valentine's Day, which was so, so fun.  Sometimes just being with other grown up's without children is so rejuvenating.  I finally wore a Joie top my mom got me that has been waiting patiently in my closet since the holidays.  I paired them with faux leather leggings that I finally found to fit my um, shapely? legs.  These Topshop leggings are a great price and a great fit - I highly recommend them!  I also wore this bracelet which I got for Christmas.  I think the lesson learned here is that I don't get out much.

I have been seeing this Forever21 sweater all over Instagram and blogs and was surprised to find one at my local F21.  I love a good comfy, oversize sweater and this one fits the bill.  I sized up in the sweater but definitely wouldn't if I got another.  This guy tends to run big.  We also need to discuss these 7 For All Mankind jeans.  The style literally sucks you in and I want them in ever color.

I have become super obsessed with fun, sparkly necklaces lately.  They instantly snazz up any outfit.

I picked up this at Forever too and can't wait to wear it with my leggings and some fun shoes.

Can we discuss these Gap camo pants?  I posted about them months ago and was going to buy them but they sold out everywhere in my size.  I finally gave up hope and moved on.  My girlfriend spotted them in the sale rack this weekend when we were at the mall and the only pair there happened to be my size!  The best part? They were on sale for 9 dollars.  I was practically doing backflips at that price and the fact that I finally found them!

Hope everyone stays warm and snow free!
