2014 Looking Back

What a crazy year of up's and down's this was!  I don't always share a lot of personal things on here, especially anything negative, because I like keeping this a happy space.  I thought today would be a great time to look back on this past year, and all of the craziness that went on in our lives, because this was one memorable year!

We started the year off on a weird note, with my husband's car having been stolen and totaled.  We had a crazy winter, full of blizzards (I don't mind snow one bit!) The kids and I were in a pretty big car accident in a parking lot, which ended up with my car being totaled and a whole lot of bumps and bruises, but all three of us being ok!  We went to Florida two times and had so much fun in the sun! While we were there, Avery learned to swim and Greyson definitely stepped up his water game.  Avery finished pre-school and spent a lot of her summer at different camps, for the first time ever.  In the middle of the summer, I went for my annual skin check and was told they found a melanoma type spot.  I had surgery almost right after and everything is ok now!  I have a lovely scar running down half of my leg that is still healing, but it's a great reminder to ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN! Literally, right after that, we moved to a new house (I promise pictures are coming!)  Avery started kindergarden a couple of weeks later, with Greyson starting preschool right after.  We have spent the better part of the last couple of months adjusting to the new schedule of full day kindergarden and two kids in school and full of activities.

I learned a lot this past year - always wear your seat belt, you're never too old to chase your dream career, you can meet the greatest friends when you least expect, and the friends you have had forever are always a blessing, wine should always be fully stocked, sunscreen should be your new best friend, moving is a massive pain, kids grow up way too fast, and blanket scarves are the best accessory ever.

Happy, happy New Years Eve!  I hope it is FABULOUS!

Shopaholic

It's the final Shopaholic post of 2014! This feels slightly epic (yes, I realize it actually isn't) because it signifies the end of another year and the end of my first year of these posts.  Am I going to look back at all of the goodies I was coveting in a few years from now and ask "what the hell was I thinking?!" (ahem, Juicy track suits 2004.) Happy shopping and enjoy the fact that almost everything is on SALE!

Have a fabulous day!

Winter Neutrals

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday weekend! We had a busy, family-filled, food-stuffed one!  I can't believe Christmas is already over! While we are talking about Christmas, let's talk about Winter and one of my favorite alliterations: winter whites.  I am a non-conformist when it comes to the no white after Labor Day rule, and bust out my white pants at any opportunity (take that rules!)  What pairs best with white besides basically anything? The answer is clearly, soft browns and neutrals.

Pink and Casual

Happy Monday lovelies!  Can you believe it's Christmas/vacation week?!  How did this holiday season go by SO fast?  I have been so busy with getting ready for the holidays, parties (no complaints about that here!), last minute shopping, and all of the kids' activities, which has left me with no time to worry about what I am wearing.  I have been air drying my hair and tossing it up every day and throwing on anything casual chic I can find.  I have been getting the BEST goodies from Child With Style lately, an online boutique owned by a friend of mine.  The Chaser tee I am wearing is something I snapped up last week and I have already worn it too many times to admit.  It was perfect for running errands with the kids thanks to the fun details on the front and back, and comfy enough to toss on over my gym clothes to head into a school party.  Double win!

I have so many fun shirts from Child With Style to share later - trust me, they will be on heavy rotation the next couple of crazypants weeks!  You can like them on Facebook here where new things are always posted, or check out the website here!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday lovelies! I am linking up with Amanda for Friday Favorites, so let's get right into it!

Christmas Parties
It's officially party season! A very tartan Christmas was this year's theme and it was such a fun one!  I got this shirt for me and Josh, and we totally looked like the twins from the Shining the entire night.  I ordered a tutu from eBay for $9.  It was definitely a $9 one at that.

Get yourself a selfie stick, you won't regret it.

J.Crew Hires Mayhem to Create a Collection
You guys remember Mayhem, the little girl who (with her mom) made paper designs of famous gowns and looks worn by celebrities?  Well Jenna Lyons went ahead and hired her to make a collection for J.Crew.  Talk about dreams coming true, and talk about an awesome little girl! I can't wait to see what she comes up with!  #babygenius

Kate Middleton's Side Eye
This made my week.  Girlfriend gets down with the attitude and I love it!

This is an awesome list whether you're a mom (for the most part) or just into health or not.  From activity trackers to jam-packed green tea, this list is awesome, holidays or not!

This Parody

... of mom's singing Taylor Swift's Blank Space, but about Starbucks and kids, and it just gets it.

That last one has me motivated enough to gather up Greyson and roll out for a Venti!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Shopaholic

I am assuming most of you have gotten all of your holiday shopping done by now, and if you're like me, the all too frequent sales that keep popping up are hard to pass up.  Even if you don't shop (I swear I don't always!) there are so many fun goodies to look at and add to my wishlist!

I'm linking up for Thoughts on Thursday with the fabulous Natalie and Annie!

Have a fabulous day!

Winter Blues

So I am trying to steer away from black, because it's just become an NYC Ninja (Pamela!) problem.  When I avoid black, I just end up in a sea of navy, and you will never hear me complaining about that.  Blues are a winter wardrobe staple.  Also, if you can, get some Tieks, because they are so amazing (thanks for the rec Amanda!)  The vest is not available in navy right now, but there are other colors and they always restock the blue.  It gets me through the in-between weather days, and on days when I feel really bad ass and just don't want to wear my 200 pound puffer coat.

Holidays at Home

Happy Tuesday lovelies!  Today I am linking up with AnnieKatieCait and Lisa and sharing a peek at our holiday decorations!  We accumulated a lot this year (first year in our new house!!) and we have lights, REAL lights outside!  I'm all about a gold, silver and white color scheme with pops of reds.  We let the kids decorate their own tree and choose which ornaments they wanted on their tree and on our big tree.  Even though our main tree is my dream color scheme, I get more happy every time I look at the kids' tree decorated with their little hands, and overflowing with memories.

I am still working on our mantle and waiting for a set of new stockings (way too exciting!)  Does anyone have any good holiday candle recommendations because I have had no luck finding any delicious ones yet!

Have a fabulous day!
