Workout: The Gear

Happy Thursday lovelies! I'm trying to keep up with my fitness track, and let's just say the past week wasn't my best.  I managed to squeeze in a lot of barre, weights, and runs (ralks.)  However, I snacked on Easter candy (sorry kids!), ate out way too much, and just pms-binged.  I have also turned into an oversnacker, and while I know the whole logic behind eating lots of little snacks to keep your metabolism up, for me that just makes me eat more.  Help a girl out and leave me all of your tips and suggestions!  
So, what better way to refocus, motivate and get back on track? New workout gear.  Let's be real, we all feel like we can give it our all in a cute outfit.  I strut my stuff a little and try a little harder when I don't feel totally dumpy (old sweats and my husband's tees.)  More than that, I am more comfortable, less sweat-covered thanks to wicking material, more supported (hey girls) and can wear my workout clothes all day because WHO GOT TIME TO CHANGE! I need to let it be said that this former Lulu lover has found Nordstrom and Zella and Nike, and all is well in the world!

I'm a firm believer that socks are a quality investment when it comes to workout.  I was so surprised at the difference I felt when I invest in a good pair.  These are my absolute favorite - they have great cushioning and are super light even with padding.


I try to use my heart rate monitor as much as possible to get an accurate reading of my calorie burn. It's a pretty good motivator to make me work harder when I don't see the number of calories I want on the screen.

I'm currently rocking these sneaks.... right now.  I go through sneakers really fast, but I have found that these are great quality for the price.  My last pair cost double and I felt like they gave me knee issues, but these are much better support-wise.


I recently discovered Athleta and am now coveting these pants.  Preppiest workout pants ever!


And these pants - just LOVE.  They would go from gym to beyond.  I'm talking to you Amanda!

  3. Love your word "ralk" that's totally me and will definitely be me in my first 5k later today. I'm going to do my best to jog for a while, but I have a feeling it'll be a "ralk" as we get into the 2nd and 3rd miles :-P

  4. I have definitely turned into a snacker... so I need to up the gym time! I used to have that same Polar heart rate monitor but mine stopped working and I can't figure out why so I just stopped wearing it. I thought about getting a fitbit but only the super expensive one tracks your heart rate and I really want that. Boo. Love the Athleta stuff!!

  8. I hear you on the over snacking!! Can't wait to get a heartrate monitor or fit bit once baby girl arrives so that I can track my progress and really push myself! And some new workout clothes never hurt too!

  11. I'm crazy about my workout socks too! Love those striped pants. New work out clothes always help motivate me. I'm a huge snacker too, I try to always have healthy snacks on hand and if I snack a lot during the day I usually try to skip lunch to make up for all the other calories I've consumed.
