If you follow me on Instagram then you probably noticed that the kids and I were on vacation the past week.  We spent the week in Captiva Island with my parents (Josh was working.)

Flying with two little kids alone is always an adventure, as is finding a way to pack clothes for all three of us and enough toys/pool floats/snacks to keep everyone satisfied.  We did it, though!  Without school hanging over us, Avery actually let loose and had fun and we enjoyed the pools and endless sunshine.

We always stay at the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island (on the Gulf.)  We go a few times per year and have been visiting there for ten plus years.  This is definitely one of our happy, happy places!  If you have any questions about it, always feel free to shoot me an email to

I try to drag my kids on the earliest flights I can find in the hopes that they will fall back asleep.  Semi success.

One of my favorite parts about our resort is that they have an awesome swim school and the kids take swimming lessons and always come home having learned so much.

Hair braiding and glitter tattoos were all the rage with the kiddos at the pool this trip.  All I could think of when I looked at Avery was the episode of Friends when Monica gets her hair braided - you totally know what I'm talking about!

Hot, balmy weather basically screams for Rose.  Every day.

We make it a point to watch the amazing sunsets every night that the weather allows.  This was the first trip that both kids were eagerly looking forward to it nightly!

Palm trees make me so happy.  Like ridiculously happy and I am meant to live amongst them again.  I miss all of you this past week! Our internet and WiFi was spotty at best so I am a bit behind, but being away from the blogosphere for even a week feels like a lifetime!

I couldn't forget my two favorite looks for this trip....

I lived in these shorts - and they're on sale!

I was so grossly hot one night and really wanted to wear this shirt and the sleeves just weren't working for me.  I tucked them in, and voila, it was a super cute sleeveless top!  More bang for my buck right there!

Hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday!

Reading List Pt. 3

Happy Monday my lovelies!  I'm still playing catch up from a week away... and I may have gone off on a decluttering/cleaning bender over the weekend that I am trying to climb my way out of.  In lieu of that, I need to do some good old fashioned relaxing asap!  What better way to relax than with a good book, or say an iPad filled with delicious links?

1.  15 Eating Habits That Make You Live Longer
I'm not sure if they will actually make you live longer, but I do believe they will help increase your current health level.

2.  Costco is the New King of Organic Groceries
Who knew the best place to buy organic was Costco?

3.  24 Pictures That Will Make You Feel Better About the World
This one brought me to tears a couple of times, especially the last story.  A little faith in humanity and acts of kindness is the best thing to read about.

4. Why Most Diets Fail
Gwynnie knows it.  Deep down, I know it too, I just usually turn a blind eye and eat a cupcake (wink, wink.)
5.  Olivia Palermo's Beauty Tips
I have always girl crushed on OP's classic, uptown chic style and her beauty tips are as classic as she is.
6. 6 Tips to Cut the Junk Food Habit
These are awesome tips that I need to remember when I get my salty/sweet cravings!

7.  Toy Goes on Airport Adventure
A sweet story about a lost stuffed animal.  I love anything that reminds us how good humanity is.

Happy reading!

The Cut Out Maxi

Happy Friday babes!  Today is all about one of my new favorite maxi dresses, this guy.  It is available in a bunch of colors, but I love the blue myself.  I never thought I would be ok with wearing a cut out dress, but when it is about 150 percent humidity out and 90 degrees on top of it, this lightweight number makes it totally okay.  Despite the maxi filled with lots of material, this dress is light and airy.  The cut outs are surprisingly flattering and the material allows you to breathe.  For the Forever21 price, this is a no-brainer and something I know I will be wearing all Summer long!

This is my last post for a little bit - I am taking next week off to spend on vacation with my parents and my bambinos!  You can keep up on Instagram and Twitter!  July is going to be a BIG month at P and F, so make sure you check back for giveaways and some fun new changes!

Have a fabulous weekend (and week!) babes!

Happy Thursday lovelies!  This week's shopping round up is here!  Apparently it is a grey and blue kind of week (I blame the rainy start to it.)  These babies aren't only being eyed by moi, so get them while you can!

I have a pair of these from last year, and oh my word are they comfortable.  I love that they have them available in solids now, making them a great investment for Summers to come!

I also just got my hands on these pajamas and they are so soft and cool - a major plus when you don't have AC! Speaking of things that I ordered, this dress is on its way to me and I am hoping it fits as well as it looks like it does.

What I Ate Wednesday: 2

Happy Wednesday loves!  Today, is another What I Ate edition with Jenn.  When you are photographing and keep very accurate track of everything you are eating, the accountability goes way up.  I tried to carry that through with me all week and be very mindful about what I was putting on my plate.  It is so easy to get lost in a bag of chips (even if they are organic, gluten-free homemade whatnot.)

I am really trying to control my dairy intake to see if it helps my digestive issues (TMI I know, sorry!)  I am having trouble cooking dinner and quitting the cheese though! It is crazy how many recipes it is in, and feeding a family of picky eaters is no joke!

7:30 am - coffee with Almond milk creamer and stevia
I try not to jump out of bed and run right for the coffee.  I feel like I need to drink some water first and let myself naturally wake up before I have that caffeine hit.  It's NOT easy, but my day usually goes much better this way!

I usually try to get some carbs in before a workout, but today I went straight smoothie.  The extra matcha shot gives me more energy for my workout!

11:30 am - Raw cashews
I was starving after my run, so I grabbed a handful of these to try to fill me up.  I take 1/4 cup and take some out to keep it around 100 calories.  I have to save my big snack for the afternoon ;)

1:30 pm - Lunch
I eat eggs way too much!  They're my go-to lunch protein when I don't have left overs on hand.  Today I scrambled one egg and two egg whites with onion, tomatoes, kale and little bit of cheese.  I had gluten free bread with some natural peanut butter to get some good carbs in.  This lunch made me so happy!

3:30 pm - Blue chips and hummus
I try to stick to a healthy gluten free carb and hummus in the afternoon. I have been good at kicking my sweet tooth (this is when it usually comes out) but my salty craving is also bad.  This hummus is SO good and super low calorie! I can't recommend it enough!

Not pictured:  a couple of handfuls of Skinnygirl popcorn the kids were eating.

6:00 pm - Dinner
It was Taco Tuesday yesterday, because, DUH!  I used grass fed, organic lean beef with organic cheddar cheese, Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and loads of veggies.  Josh and the kids has taco shells and I went with lettuce instead.

So, also not pictured... I had a couple of baked potato chips with the kids while I was making dinner (fail.)  Then we had dessert with friends after dinner and I had a few bites of frosting and chocolate chips.  Sometimes, you just need to sneak those couple of bites of sweets in and move on with it!

To justify all of that, I hit the treadmill for 45 minutes.  It all balances out in the end, right?

5 Days Of Smoothies

It's no secret that I am kind of a Smoothie addict.  They're one of my favorite ways to eat breakfast and my go-to weekday breakfast.  I keep a few premade ones in our fridge for the days when things are completely insane and I don't have time to make one or will be eating on the go.  For the most part, I try to make one every morning Monday through Friday.

I rounded up my favorite recipes I make regularly to share with you guys.  There is one for each day of the week because, variety is the spice of life amIrightoramIright?!

As far as instructions go, start with your liquid, then add in everything else and blend, blend, blend!

Day 1

  • 1/4 cup organic rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries (can use fresh and ice instead)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1 scoop strawberry protein powder (vanilla also works!)

Day 2

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 large handful baby spinach

Day 3

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop vegan chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons PB2 or other powdered peanut butter
  • 1/2 banana
  • Handful of ice
  • 1 large handful of ice

Day 4

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon cacao nibs
  • 1/2 banana
  • Handful of ice

Day 5

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon matcha (green tea) powder
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 large handful spinach

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Some notes:

- I generally stick to vegan protein powders.  Sometimes, I won't, but my favorites are Shakeology and Vega One.
- And yes, I always add protein.  If I don't, I am just a ravenous food monster.
- I almost always use unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  If you prefer dairy, go for it!
- I don't love my smoothies too thick, so I often add in a little water as I am blending.  Eyeball it and add in a little bit at a time until it is the consistency that you prefer.
- I use my Vitamix and can't say enough good things about it!

Let me know if you try any of these recipes and what you think of them!

The White Romper

You guys.  Target has been killing it this season.  I have to restrain myself from going there because I know I will leave with a cart full of more goodies than usual.  I haven't had much luck finding clothes there in years, but it's like a nonstop finding session these days.  I picked this romper up on a whim and ended up wearing it an hour late to a couple of parties.  It was so comfortable (don't nobody want to be pulling at and adjusting their clothes all day) and felt chic and pulled together, especially for $25 price point.

I'm going to admit that I have worn this around four times in the last couple of weeks. It is on true repeat.  I think white is the most flattering color against tan skin and is to Summer what black is to Winter.  But seriously, Target.  You are on point!

You can shop my whole look below, including a bunch of other fun white lace rompers all under $30!

{ Romper } Mossimo (Target), similar hereherehere and here ||  { Necklace } Kendra Scott
|| { Sunglasses } Knockaround  || { Bag } Rebecca Minkoff  ||  { Shoes } Tory Burch

Speaking of Target and rompers, I also picked up another romper on the same shopping trip....

How fun is this colorful and crocheted number?  It is also only $25!  You can get it here!

As always, #targetdoesitagain am I right?!

Happy Thursday lovelies! I am trying to recover from last night's concert and get ready to celebrate at both kids' schools today.  Who has two thumbs and is now ready for the weekend?  THIS GIRL!  Don't say I never said I wasn't cheesy.

This is basically the week of the dress and the soft color palette.  Can you tell I live for easy dressing in the warm months?  I need a reason to wear this dress because it is everything!  I'm also kicking myself for not getting these shoes when I saw them on sale.  They are a quality investment!

You can shop everything below!
