Shopping: Mara Hoffman, Lilly and More on Sale!

Happy New Years Eve babes!  It's so hard to believe that 2015 is coming to close!  Who is with me, scratching their heads and going "where the hell did it go?"  I am SO ready for 2016 to be here and have a fresh start!  We fully took advantage of the holiday break this year and relaxed, put work on hold and spent all of our time with our family and friends.  I don't think Josh and I have ever taken time like this and it has been so refreshing and good for the soul.  I have never felt more ready to ring in a new year and tackle everything with a fresh mindset and energy!  Oh, and clearly, I will be cleansing, because new year, new diet!

Another amazing part of New Years?  The amazing after Christmas, close out the old year sales!  These are some of the best deals I have seen in a long time and I am having the hardest time not blowing my budget all at once.

I scooped up a few goodies at 6pm.com for some upcoming vacations, and I was literally mind blown at the deals!  So many of my favorite brands like Mara Hoffman, Lilly Pulitzer, Equipment, Joie and more are on CRAZY sale!  I rounded up everything I loved for you below!  Pieces are selling out quickly, so grab them while you can!  Sign up for the email list as well, because they email out frequent coupons, like an extra 10% off everything!

Thank you SO much for reading this blog in 2015.  You all mean the world to me and I love all of your comments and sweet words!  It is truly amazing how many people fall into your life thanks to blogging, and for that, and all of you, I am so grateful.

May your 2016 be magical!

Beauty: The Hands-Down Best Dry Shampoo

I am a firm believer in having a great dry shampoo in your beauty rotation.  I depend on mine more than any other product I own (for real!)  I milk my blowouts for as long as possible, usually going three or four days until my next wash.  I work out at least four days a week, so I can't just go on my way with a good brushing.  It is so much better for your hair, especially if you dye it like I do, to go as long as possible without washing and heat styling.  Dry shampoo is the best tool to help avoid both of these, although I do run the straightener through my hair on days I don't wash it.

I spray a tiny bit of the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo at the roots of my hair in four places:  underneath my hair by my ears up to my temple on both sides, the top of my head around the center part, and underneath around the entire top of my forehead.  I generally only spray a little bit because it goes a long way with this specific type of dry shampoo.  If I am going on day four, I will spray a little bit on the very back of the top of my head as well.  I let it sit for 3-5 minutes, then using either my Wet Brush or a soft bristle brush, brush it through until it disappears.  I get a little more body out of it when I use the Wet Brush, but the soft bristle makes it disappear faster and more easily.

I am such a huge fan of the Living Proof brand.  If you check the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database to see how good or bad a brand is for you, Living Proof falls in the middle, not the red (bad) side.  The scent is also amazing, if you're a big fan of things that smell good.  Avery always asks what the smell is when I use it, and tells me how much she likes it.  There's no more discerning taste than that of a seven year old girl.

You can purchase the full size dry shampoo for $22 or test it out with the travel size for $12.  I have both, because I cannot travel without this stuff!  Have you tried the LP Dry Shampoo?  What do you think?

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Style: Faux Poncho Sweater

Sweater: Target  |  Shoes: Sam Edelman (on sale) | Leggings: Hue, similar here | Bag:  Louis Vuitton Speedy |  Pendant Necklace: Kendra Scott | Necklace: via Etsy  |  Sunglasses: Amazon

Is a faux poncho a thing?  I'm guessing it's not, but I can't think of any other way to describe this sweater.  It's a fantastically random Target find that looks way pricier than it is (under $25!)  I love the fit and cut of it, and it works just as well paired with leggings as it does with a pair of jeans.  While I was looking for this, I found a ton of other great sweaters Target has in stock right now and rounded them up below.  When Target is good, it's real good.

Style: New Years Eve Dresses

Happy Monday babes! I hope everyone had a great holiday and weekend.  I cannot believe Christmas has come and gone already!  I'm completely in New Years mode now and trying to cram in all of the things we need to get done before Josh has to go back to work.  Since New Years Eve is upon us, I have been shopping for something to wear.  There's nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?

I will more than likely order something from Shopbop because of their Amazon Prime two day shipping if I can't get to the mall.  And, really, who wants to be at the mall this week with all of the crazy returners.

Since I spent a large chunk of this past weekend online browsing for dresses, I rounded up a bunch on my list to share with you all.  I am trying to decide which one to go with this year, but making a decision is so hard!  What are you wearing?

Have a fabulous day and thank you for reading!  -xx

Style: Coral Tunic + Warby Parker Holiday

Top: Banana Republic Heritage Tunic Blouse (available in other colors!)  |  Pants: Hue Ultra Wide Waistband Leggings  |  Shoes: Vince Camuto Annetta, available here (on sale) and here | Clutch: Clare V. |   Earrings: BaubleBar Cairo Ear Jackets  |  Sunglasses: Warby Parker Dempsey

Let's talk about two things I love when the temperatures drop:  great tunics and great sunglasses.  Clearly, the temperatures have finally dropped because I am wearing both.  The sun still shines when the weather is cold and a great pair of sunglasses is a great accessory year round IMHO.

I have been on the hunt for some new sunnies to add to my always growing collection (I'm way too rough on them) and ordered a few from Warby Parker to try on.  They send you five at a time to take for a test drive before you commit to buying a pair.

I'm also completely in love with this tunic, which is the perfect flowy fit when you want something a little dressier to wear with leggings.  It's a great lightweight material and the sleeves button so you're able to wear them long or rolled (which I usually do, because they run longer.)

Here's to kicking off the holiday week with some real Winter temps finally and fab Winter looks!

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Beauty: The Best Shampoo + Conditioner

I wanted to share my new favorite hair washing essentials with you ladies today.  I have been a big fan of Living Proof for a while, but I recently switched to the No Frizz formula Shampoo and Conditioner and I am extra obsessed!  I can't foresee myself using another shampoo and conditioner anytime soon.  This definitely keeps my frizz at bay, whether I am drying my hair straight or air drying curly.  My second and third day hair definitely has less frizz than before too.  Those are the days that I am usually adding in major dollops of serum and spray to keep the tiny frizzies at the top of my head at bay, but no more!  The Living Proof products are sulfate, oil and silicone-free, making them a huge win in my safer product book!

My mom gifted me with a Mason Pearson comb last year and it has become a huge favorite for me and Avery.  I was a solid believer in the wide tooth until I met this baby.  Even with the teeth so close together, it combs through easily and gets knots out.   Avery has extremely knotty hair and this has been making a huge difference post bath or shower for her.  It's also great for using when you're straightening your hair with an iron and want it stick straight, and for teasing.

The pink alligator clips (thanks Amanda for the great find!) are perfect for holding your hair up while you style it and not getting a crease.  If your hair is long enough they also hold a loose bun in place easily. These are seriously so awesome!

I use every one of these products daily right now and love them! I use them on Avery too, because at seven, she is getting real hair that is thick and wavy.   She is giving her two thumbs up, seal of approval too!

What are some other great products that I am missing out on?  Let me know!  Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day! -xx

Shopping: Lust List

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Happy almost Friday lovelies!  I finally (sort of) have my act back together this week and am verrrrry slowly digging my way out of my hole.  What hole you ask?  The hole that is life.  J/K.  Kind of.   Pour me another glass of wine!

Now that I am onto the hardcore wrapping stage of the holidays, I have been what you would call "treating yoself" to myself.  I may be doing this a bit too much, but with a girls' trip coming up, parties to hit, and sales too good to pass up, I have been doing some damage without majorly breaking the bank.

While I love a darker palette for Winter, I am also loving pastels big time.  Contrasting bags (and shoes) and loads of feminine neutrals paired with dainty gold jewelry is basically ma thang lately.  Maybe I should ma thang not typing train of thought, or in the exact way I speak.

So to wrap up all of this shopping randomness, it's time to think about others AND yourself!  Happy shopping you lovely babes you!

Gift Guide: Mugs

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

A gift guide post all about mugs?  Yes, you read that right friends.  Maybe it's just me, but mugs and travel mugs are one of the best gifts to give and receive.  I get at least one a year and I love them all.  I never buy them for myself, but I always need them!  Drinking coffee out of a cute mug or tumbler makes ALL of the difference to me!

I love picking out a super cute tumbler or mug to gift to a friend and always get so happy when I see them using it!  Note to my husband:  you can get me any of these for Christmas and I will be very happy about it!

Thank you for reading and happy shopping! -xx

Taste: Easy Green Smoothie

It's no secret that I'm a total green smoothie junkie.  I have been pretty consistently eating/drinking them for three years now.  I will occasionally stray into the chocolate zone, but I always end up craving the green ones.  I always thought I had some sort of iron deficiency and it makes me crave spinach, and a green smoothie is one of the easiest ways to get in more spinach!

I have been trying to cut down on my dairy intake (insert: tiny violins) so I have been using almond milk and the vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free protein.  You could always add a dash of super green powder to this as well and it would be delicious!  I am positive adding the chia seeds to this keep me much fuller than any other smoothie I make.  All hail the mighty chia!

* I decided I am craving crazy sweetness to makeup for my attempt to lower my actual sugary product intake, so I have been adding a few drops of liquid stevia to this.

If you click the link, a printable version of the recipe will come up!

Style: The Swingy Turtleneck Sweater

Sweater: Loft (runs big in body, small in neck) | Shoes: Amazon (run wide) | Jeans: 7 For All Mankind | Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy | Earrings: Old BaubleBar

Sorry for all of the silence on the blog front!  Things have just been piling up on me lately and I haven't had a second to do.... almost everything.  Work, the blog, workouts, holiday to-do's... it's all just going by the wayside. I know I vent about having a loaded plate and time management, but woof.   Someone either please send me an assistant, or all of the tips on how to manage time better.  I mean, I have never wasted hours on Keeping up with the Kardashians marathons.  Never.  Ever.

Back to this outfit.  The sweater is my new favorite and may have replaced my beloved J.Crew swing sweater.  It's such a great fit.  It runs bigger in the body and smaller in the neck, in case you have a super sized head like myself.  It comes in a bunch of colors - I am wearing the Parsnip Cream Heather.  If it isn't on sale or promo, just wait a few days because Loft always has promos and it is always included.  I'm thinking of ordering it in a second color (the dark emerald) because I love it so much!

Hope you all had a great weekend! We are recovering from a majjjje holiday party that always reminds me that I am no longer 21 and a little shopping and wrapping always helps!

P.S. The sweater is 40% off today with code FIRSTLOOK!

Thank you for reading!  Have a fabulous day!  -xx
