Style: Instagram Round Up

Happy Friday friends!  I am so glad this weekend is coming to a close.  It definitely started with a snowy bang, and Avery's school somehow being the only one that wasn't closed? I am counting down the seconds until I can be in sunshine and warm weather!

I have been definitely wearing the youknowwhat out of all of my Anthropologie sale finds.  I got them all in store, so make sure to check yours regularly, because goodies keep popping up and they're definitely low stock online.

Wrap (on sale and it is deliciously warm!)

Scarf (on sale for $25!) / Jacket (on sale for $84!)

This isn't online, but it's an awesome Anthropologie sale find.  Both stores I went to had them in stock in store.

Top: Acrobat via (only place available) / Shoes / Denim via Stitch Fix

Top: another Anthro sale find / Jeans / Shoes

Old J.Crew swing sweater (the BEST!) / Jeans / Shoes / Necklace from Anthro sale

I have BIG plans this weekend to organize the house, which I am pretty sure is what I always say and talk about it.  Maybe I should be re-thinking my big plans!  Hope your weekend is great!  Thank you for reading and have a fabulous weekend!  -xx

Style: Winter Boots

Sole Society OTK Boot (almost exactly the same) / Hunter Boots /  Sorel BootsUggs / Target Bootie  / Steve Madden Bootie

Clearly, I am on a Winter roll this week.  Can you tell there is a theme here? I should probably keep it going and tie some Winter beauty posts in, but I haven't thought that far.  Or maybe I am just not that clever (true.)  So let's talk about something that has become a little bit more than necessary in my life these days (and probably a lot of yours, too!): boots.  I'm wearing boots in some shape or form most days and I have a whole bunch of different ones that serve different purposes.  The one universal, uniting feature they all have in common: they have to be CUTE!

Let me break them down for you:

Over the knee boot - Mine are from Sole Society last year, but these are literally the exact same, just a new name for a new year.  These cover really tall, warm socks and fit over leggings or jeans.  They're perfect for looking pulled together without a ton of effort and helping keep you leg in a cozy sock.  Just a great, versatile pair to have.

Wellies - I have three pairs of Hunters because I both love them and tend to be excessive.  The hunter green pair are my favorite because of the timeless, preppy color.  They're great with a boot liner for wet weather and snow.  They can get you through some seriously wet days, but they're not lined or warm so make sure you buy a boot liner!

Snow boot - I love my Sorels!  I want to wear them everyday, even if there is no snow!  They so warm and cozy and keep your feet dry and snuggly.  I can't say enough great things about these and I am so glad I finally grabbed a pair.  Definitely wear socks with them though, because the insides of the sole aren't super soft.

Uggs -  Let's all just accept it, after ten plus years, Ugg's just aren't going away anytime soon.  I have been rocking them since college and keep doing so because they are the warmest damn things next to slippers that you can put your feet in.  I recently got this pair to replace the last pair that I have had for eight year.  (point: they hold up!)  I think the short style with the button is super cute and I usually wear them when I am going to spin, barre or yoga.  Sometimes I just wear them around the house because they're so cozy.  Buy some Scotch Guard and spray them before you wear them.  This will keep them protected for years!

Tall bootie - I scoredthese Target booties at a steal and totally recommend them if you need a pair of higher booties to add to your closet.  They're what I wear the least because of the shape and size of my legs.  They're a very specific style, so I chose not to invest in an expensive pair because I don't know if I'll be wearing them for years to come.  They're a great, everyday shoe and can be paired with pants or dresses.

Short bootie - My Steve Madden booties are from last year, but they have them again this year.  They're a cross between a boot and a shoe and hit at your low ankle point, around the bone.  You can wear them with a lot more pants because of how low they are, and they fit more like a flat shoe, making them very comfortable.  Another shoe that is perfect for everyday casual looks.

One day I will be back in sandals, and you know I cannot wait for that day!  Stay warm friends!  Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

I am so in love with this dress.  I am going to buy it for an upcoming weekend away and our Mexico trip.  It's all kinds of perfect!  I'm also seriously eyeing this skirt for Valentine's Day.  It's so fab and an amazing price! I have this top sitting in my shopping cart and I just need to pull the trigger on it already.  I am such a sucker for gingham, especially navy.  The it coverup of last year is back this year!  Sizes are already going super fast, but it's so early it will hopefully re-stock . It's pricier, but it looks like a piece that will last for years, so I am seriously thinking I need to just get it while I can.

Let's talk accessories, because when the weather gets this cold, they're all I really want to shop for.  How fabulous and pricey looking is this watch?  I think a wrap watch is timelessly chic.  I'm totally swooning over these sunglasses and their $69 price point!  They're so fun and I love a pair that doesn't go over $100! I'm totally digging rings lately, and this beauty is giving me major heart eyes.  I'm such a sucker for pearls and I know this will definitely go on sale.  I feel like I really need some Charleston Rice Beads in my life (closet?)  They're so easy to wear and would go with almost anything.  A perfect Valentine's gift!

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Style: Winter Wear

Tunic: Lou and Greysimilar / Leggings: Hue / Boots: Sorel / Hat: Rella via Lord and Taylor (on sale!) / Gloves: Whitney Eve, via FabFitFun

You guys.  It is SO flipping cold.  After the warm holiday season, I was fully not prepared for this cold wave and snow.  It could always be worse, right?  I mean I could be stuck on a tropical island where there's too much... tropic?  We ended up having to cancel and move Greyson's planned birthday party, but had an awesome weekend with so many of our favorite people.  Snowstorms are such a great excuse to stay in and drink wine with friends!

So, anyway, these boots have been on heavy rotation lately.  I used to always wear my Hunter's through Winter with a liner, but I am so done with that.  These babies keep my feet warm and are much more lightweight.  The Hunters are relegated to straight rain status now that these true snow babies are here.  Confession: I have been wearing them even when there isn't snow.  I usually wear my trusty Ugg's, but these are so much more flattering on and look so pulled together, plus I can wear a sock with them without getting that nasty sweaty sock in an Ugg feeling.

Hats and fingerless gloves are my other staples.  I refused to wear hats when I was a kid because I hated how they looked and felt, and now that I rarely have time to do my hair, they are my new best friends.  I legitimately wore this hat all day one day last week, including out to dinner.  #noshame.

After living in California for years, I appreciate the snow, but I do not love the cold!  How much longer until Winter is over and how can I squeeze in multiple warm weather trips before then?

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Life: Friday Favorites

Happy Friday loves!  Who is ready for this rumored insane Winter weather we are supposed to get in the Northeast this weekend?  Not me!  I wanted snow for so long, but it has to come the one weekend I really don't need it to!  Such is life.  No matter what, I am so happy it is finally Friday!  These weeks are zipping by, but I am always happy to see a weekend!  I haven't done any sort of Friday round up in ages, so this seemed like the week to get back into it!  I'm linking up with my girl Amanda to share my loves lately...

Before we discuss anything, can you please read Vogue's Take on American vs. French Women?  I was practically peeing my pants laughing at this.  It's amazing.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

+  Greyson turned four last Saturday and I was a hot mess.  I'm more distressed with my children's birthdays than I ever am with my own anymore.  They literally do grow up SO fast and I just wish I could slow it all down.  I was young when I had Avery so I feel like I didn't fully grasp that concept, but as I get older, I realize just how quickly childhood goes by.  Sappy mom rant over.  We spent his birthday with my parents at an indoor boardwalk called iPlay America.  If you live in New Jersey or the Philadelphia area, this place is totally worth the drive.  Josh and I were killing it on basketball and skee-ball and the kids had such a great time!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

+  I'm starting to get my wardrobe (and hopefully waistline) ready for a girls' trip to Mexico next month.  We had planned this so long ago and I can't believe the date is quickly approaching.  There are so many amazing sales lately that I have been update to update my Summer wardrobe way before I need to.  I just need to up my diet game!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Speaking of diets, I am on day 12 of the 24 Day Cleanse.  It hasn't been my best performance, but I am really happy with how I am doing with it overall.  I'm hoping for results and a lot of change in my food behaviors.  Fiber drinks are NO JOKE yo!  Amanda and I were chatting about how much we like being nosy and reading about other people's diets and food diaries.  I was thinking of doing a whole cleanse round up next week!

That's some overnight oats in the cup right there.  These are a busy morning lifesaver! The recipe is this:  one cup almond milk, 1/2 cup organic oatmeal, one tablespoon chia seeds, one tablespoon ground flax seed, dash of alcohol free vanilla and a couple of spoonfuls of coconut sugar.  Let sit over night in the fridge.  I heat it up in the microwave the next morning and top with sliced fruit.  It's awesome, easy and filling!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Can I please get a praise hands for this beauty, Gotham City center and all?  My friend and interior designer, Helen ordered this piece for the fugly backside of our couch which faces the entrance to our living room.  It's all kinds of amazing and stores the kids' toys and hides the icky part of the couch.  It was a huge steal!  If you're interested in it let me know and I can put you in touch with the most fab designer!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

When I spotted this beauty on Instagram, I was in love.  I'm such a sucker for anything on wheels (mobility!) and any sort of Kallax product.  I will be coercing Josh into helping me put wheels on one of these and finding the perfect spot for it asap!  Thoughts on where it could go?  I already have two bar carts, so I think I need to rule that option out.

I am off to re-jigger our entire weekend thanks to Snowmaggedon 2016, including a toddler party and a planned overnight trip.  Stay warm friends!

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous weekend!  -xx

Style: Red Pants + Jawbone Up2 Review

Top: Loft, similar / Pants: Stitch Fix / Shoes: Amazon (they run wide) / Bag: Gucci (old) / Necklace: Anthropologie, it is still available in stores and all sale is an extra 40% off with code: XTRA40 / Bracelet: Jawbone Up2

Never in my life did I think I would be the proud owner and wearer of a pair of red pants.  Man, was I clearly confused, because red pants are AWESOME.  Put a pair on and I dare you to tell me you don't feel all kinds of sassy.  I had to stop myself from strutting when I walked and snapping my fingers nonstop.  Ok, that might be a little be of an exaggeration, but I think you get where I am going with this.  This pair came in my last Stitch Fix (you can sign up here) and I wasn't even going to try them.  I'm so glad I gave them a chance because they fit like a glove and are the most fun pop of color to wear.  All you need is a white, black or chambray shirt to pair with them and you're dressed!  Don't tell me you can't find at least one of those items in your closet!

Enough about the red pants (never enough though) but I have the Jawbone Up2 I got for Christmas on in this picture.  Does anyone have one of these?  I'm sort of a step counter whore because I need them all and I am constantly on the mission to find the best one.  I absolutely fell in love with this one because it is a pale gold color and the size and shape of a bracelet.  Sounds perfect right?  Not so much.  Does anyone else have one of these?  I don't know if it is just mine, but it definitely does not count all of my steps.  I wore this and my FitBit on the same day and the FitBit registered 3,000 more steps than the Jawbone did.  I'm super disappointed in it, especially because I had such high hopes for it.  My other negative with it is that you have to open the app on your phone to get your current step count.  I know I am lazy for calling that a complaint, but the app also doesn't update quickly or accurately.  I am going to contact the company about it first and either exchange or return it.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Currently Obsessed: The Home Edition

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

I guess you could call this "The One Where I'm Obsessed with World Market and Butler Trays."  Clearly, this isn't a Friends episode (wouldn't it be so colorful and granny chic if it were a la Monica's apartment?) but I am seriously gushy over World Market right now and on the hunt for some butler trays to use as nightstands.  My two contenders are this and this.  They would sit on either side of our bed as night stands, and for reference, our bed is gray and the whole room is going with a white and gray scheme.  Any input on which you like better is appreciated!

I'm also trying to finish our kitchen for once and for all.  I need a new runner in there and a new backsplash that I am desperately trying to convince Josh to do, but he thinks tearing out what we have there could ruin it all, big boo.  Accessories can help hide everything I don't like, right?  How pretty would these be sitting out with goodies?  World Market's other gem is this because it is technically a wine chiller (so pretty on a patio) but it could also be used as a vase for dried flowers or to hold kitchen utensils.  Versatility at its best!

I am on a never ending pillow kick and this is one I literally cannot get enough of.  I get little heart flutters every time I see it posted somewhere.  I don't know if I can justify the price until my kids and our kitten are old enough to not fully destroy it, boo!  And these. I just plain old want geode coasters in my life because I think they're so cool and chic all at once.  "Sure, I would love to set my beverage on our slice of beautiful rock!"  I'm also really feeling marquee letters lately.  I think they would be so fun in the kids playroom (if they ever actually used it, tips please!) and have that industrial feel that pairs so well with a modern, clean room.  Finally, this lamp gives me all the feels.  I started eyeing it the day it came out and promptly sold out the same day.  It's on sale right now, btw and sometimes in store they have them randomly on clearance.  I scored the white tabletop version for $8 one day randomly.  I literally bought the only two I saw marked down and ran before they could figure out what a good deal it was!

Send me help with the bedside tables if you have a second! I trust all of your input!  Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx

Beauty: Natural Products Volume 1

You guys know I have talked about how I am really trying to be more considerate and thoughtful of not only what I put in my body, but what I put on it.  So many of my favorite beauty products are filled with ingredients I cannot pronounce and chemicals I know I don't want anywhere near me.  The United States is unfortunately far behind many other countries when it comes to banning harmful ingredients in cosmetics and beauty products.

I'm going to be perfectly honest here and say it:  I'm vain.  Not in a "I cannot put a mirror down because I need to look at myself every second of the day" type of vain.  I'm vain in that I want to look good.  I don't want to show signs of aging, and I like my skin to look its best.  It is what it is and whether you think that's wrong to care so much, totally fine, I get it.  If I am going to spend time trying to fight aging (that's an uphill battle) and keep my skin looking its best, I should also be spending the time researching what I am actually putting on it.  Some of the my favorite products are filled with unpronouncable chemicals that I know I do not want anywhere near me.  Our skin is our largest organ, so imagine what it is absorbing when we slather and lather it in chemicals.

Now, there is no level of perfection to be achieved here.  This is by all means a give it my very best shot approach because realistically it's impossible for me to do it any other way.  There are a handful of holy grail products that I am not willing to give up and I am approaching it as I like to approach my diet:  80/20.  If I can do my very absolute best 80 percent of the time then 20 percent of the time I am allowed to splurge.

The Skin Deep website has become my new go-to.  You can search brands and products to see the level of toxicity and where they rank in terms of bad/good ingredients.  I have literally changed my mind on a lot of purchases since I discovered this gem.  Try it for a few products, I promise it is fantastic and the most useful, handy tool to have.

Since I am off on this tangent today on being as natural with beauty products, I wanted to share a few that I am currently using and love big time.  I pulled all of these out of my medicine cabinet and have used them all for at least a month so I know whether I like them or not and how I feel about them.

Honest Deodorant - I'm going to be honest and tell you that I don't love this.  The smell is not my favorite (that is just personal preference though) so I need to try their other scents.  It also burns like a B if you spray it on after shaving, note to self.  Traditional deodorant and antiperspirants are some of the most toxic beauty products sold in stores because of their high aluminum count among other reasons.  Natural deodorant is hit or miss.  This definitely gets the job done, I just need to give some other scents a try!

Gardenia Tea Antioxidant Body Serum - I got this in my Rachel Zoe Box of Style in the Fall and fell in love.  The price tag is way high so I don't know if I would purchase it again, unless I found it at a lower price.  That being said, this little bottle has lasted me four months so far.  It's made with a lot of natural oils and pairs well with body lotion or on its own.  I love its light scent and I don't even need lotion with it, and I have seriously dry skin.

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face wash - I recommend this face wash left and right. It's a great brand that you know doesn't have tons of chemicals in it and the wash itself is awesome.  It has a wonderful texture and really removes makeup while being very general.  I highly recommend this!

Beauty Counter Every Night Hydrating Cream - Beauty Counter is quickly becoming one of my go-to beauty brands thanks to its conscientiousness when making its product.  This is my absolute favorite product of theirs.  This lotion feels like butter on your skin and gives a ton of moisture without being heavy.  This is my new favorite face lotion and I actually use it for both day and night when it's cold and I am dry.

Jojoba Oil - I have been using the Leven Rose Organic Cold Pressed Jojoba oil (I get it on Amazon) and it is just dreamy.  It's the perfect serum for under or over your moisturizer.  I mix a few drops of it with foundation when I am not feeling a full face of makeup, rub it on my hands and cuticles, and even under my eyes.  It's so versatile, has very little odor to it and is just a pure, organic ingredient.  If you buy one thing that is natural, make it this for its versatility.

Dickinson's Witch Hazel - This one is a toughie.  It's straight witch hazel, which is completely natural and again, one of the most pure products you can use.  I use it as a toner and it soothes my sensitive skin while removing the rest of my makeup.  I think a toner is a key step in night time skin care, HOWEVER (this is big) if you have had a baby, this smell may haunt your dreams.  I recommend getting a Witch Hazel with a scent in it.

What do you think of this post?  Do you guys like it?  I'm definitely trying to incorporate this healthier lifestyle when it comes to my beauty and skincare routine into my life and would love to share more with you as I do, as long as you all are interested!  Let me know!

Thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!  -xx
